From December 14, 2024 to February 15, 2025 the Government of Canada is implementing a GST tax break on specific categories of goods.
The good news is:
Most baby toys, pretend play, building toys, games, puzzles, many outdoor toys, bath toys, craft kits, educational toys etc. are now exempt from GST
The not so good news is:
This meant we have had to go through our entire inventory and decide exemptions based on very loose descriptions from our Government and our software provider Shopify best guesses at categorizing toys.
We have spent hours pouring over our inventory, however there are bound to be mistakes and confusion along the way, especially at the beginning and during this super busy time.
If you think there is an item that should be exempt from GST and you were charged GST on it during this time, please send us a message at Office@buddiestoys.ca and we will follow up on the next business day. In most cases we can issue refunds and credits without you needing to return to the store.
Our retail staff cannot make items exempt from tax at the till, so they will not be able to answer questions for you at the checkout.
If you would like, we can put an item on hold for you, and contact you on the next business day to confirm if the item is exempt or not.
Things that continue to have GST are subject to change as we learn more, but so far include:
Nail Polish & Bath Bombs
Games & Toys for over 14+ (including lego for 14+)
